Jessica & RobbieCruelty Free Living Festival 2006

Sydney’s first Cruelty Free Living Festival was a huge success!

On November the 5th 2006, Animal Liberation held Sydney’s inaugural Cruelty Free Living Festival in the Petersham Town Hall. Attendance figures were twice what we had expected - almost 2000 people came through the door on the day! A steady stream of visitors started when the doors were opened at 10am and didn’t stop all day. We structured the festival so that visitors would stay for several hours rather than just look and leave. This was achieved by offering a wide variety of activities; workshops, bands, speakers, films, kid’s play area, lots of different foods to try and of course the many and varied stalls. Festival crowd

Thirty companies and charities exhibited on the day in three categories: vegan food, cruelty free products, animal charities. A full exhibitor list can be found here.

Feedback from the exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive. Retailers reported high sales and proclaimed the festival to be an effective way to reach their target market. Charities found the crowd to be interested and receptive, in addition they found the festival a great fundrasing opportunity.

Immediately after the festival we conducted a feedback survey and following is a small sample of the overwhelmingly positive responses we received from exhibitors:

“Being the first time it was being held I was anxious about the attendance but was pleasantly surprised. We certainly did financially well from the festival but more importantly it gave our brand a much needed boost in the Sydney market. “

Greenfields Organic Gourmet FoodOliver Risotto
“I found we made a lot of good contacts and the people where very interested in the product. I am looking forward to next year. Count Greenfields as one of your sponsors for the coming year.”

“The Cruelty free staff and volunteers were so helpful and efficient. The Festival was well run and highly organised. We had good sales and felt we received good value for money being sponsors.”

We are now taking enquiries and bookings for both sponsors and stallholders for the 2007 Festival. In 2006 we were forced to turn away stallholders due to high demand so be sure to get in early to secure your spot!
